The “Decade of Enchantment Ball” at Prophecy was so successful we wondered how we could top it. Well, we found a way. In an exciting first for HPEF, we are thrilled to announce that Ministry of Magic will perform live Wizard Rock to groove to in addition to a Muggle DJ playing your favorite Muggle tunes. Tickets to the ball are $5.00, and space is limited. Be sure to get your tickets by modifying your registration today. Haven't registered yet? There's still time – register now!
Common Room Unplugged
Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls will be joining our Common Room Unplugged performances taking place throughout Portus. We are delighted to have Christian Caldeira as a part of our growing Unplugged lineup. More Common Room Unplugged details will follow in the coming months.
The Wizard Rockumentary is finally here! Mallory and Megan, AKA the Schuyler Sisters, have been hard at work over the past several years chronicling the music movement known as “Wizard Rock.” Their presence at countless Harry Potter conferences has been hard to miss. At last, all of their hard work can be seen as a part of Portus’s formal programming this July.
Portus will screen the Wizard Rockmentary on Saturday, July 12th, followed by a Question & Answer session featuring Megan and Mallory. Spaces are limited, so be sure to reserve your spot today by modifying your registration.
Quidditch: North American Flying Federation’s 140th Merlin’s Cup
Don’t forget your racing brooms… or your water wings!
What better way is there to escape the Texas heat this July than a fierce Water Quidditch match? The Hilton Anatole will see a Texas first when it hosts the NAFF’s 140th Merlin’s Cup this summer. Out of gillyweed? Don’t worry. In addition to water Quidditch, we will also be hosting land Quidditch for all landlubbers.

Aziza Aba Butain
By Bekki Olivieri
This month's Volunteer Spotlight features none other than our Chair of Public Relations, Aziza Aba Butain. Each month, she pulls together not one but two publications on behalf of Portus: The Portus Previews, and The Portal. Her hard work keeps our attendees informed about news and updates regarding the symposium.
A Las Vegas native, Aziza first came to volunteer for HPEF events during Lumos, where she helped out at the information desk and with the press. After serving last year as the Chair of Security for Prophecy, she returns for another round of organizing at Portus. A recent graduate of the University of North Texas, she currently works as a Production Assistant for a Dallas-Fort Worth area company that produces documentaries.
